Clinical Science Webinar Series

Home / Clinical Science Webinar Series

The SBSM is happy to announce our new Clinical Science Webinar Series! In this webinar series, we will discuss cutting-edge research and its application to clinical care. The SBSM Clinical Science Webinar Series will continue to be held quarterly and will focus on the practical application of cutting-edge research to clinical settings. If you are interested in having your work featured at one of these sessions, please contact Christopher Celano (ccelano@mgh.harvard.edu).

Future Webinar:

Title: Depression in coronary heart disease: clustering, persistence, and recovery
Date/Time: Friday, February 13, 2026, 12:30-1:00 pm EST
Register Here
Presenter: Nina Kupper, PhD

Description:
This clinical science webinar we will dive into what depression looks like

Presenter:
Dr. Kupper is associate professor and Team lead of the Cardiac Psychology Research team at the Center of Research on Psychological disorders and Somatic diseases (CoRPS), at Tilburg University, the Netherlands. Her research focuses on multidimensional psychological risk profiles, negative and positive, in patients with heart disease, and their associations with psychophysiological mechanisms, prognosis, and quality of life.

If you are interested in learning about this topic beforehand, please consider taking a look at the following:

Hermans H, Lodder P, Kupper N. Types of depression in patients with coronary heart disease: Results from the THORESCI study. J Affect Disord. Dec 15 2024;367:806-814. doi:10.1016/j.jad.2024.09.026. PMID 39265861.

Hermans H, Lodder P, Kupper N. Stability and Transitions of Depressive Subtypes and Their Association With Patient Characteristics in Patients With Coronary Heart Disease. Biopsychosoc Sci Med. Nov-Dec 01 2025;87(9):612-623. doi:10.1097/PSY.0000000000001434. PMID 40891757.

In the first paper, Dr. Kupper’s team established which latent clusters of depressive symptoms existed at 1 month after coronary revascularization and described their biomedical, psychological and demographic correlates. In the second, they used these latent classes to look at how patients transitioned through the remainder of the two-year follow-up, trying to characterize who persisted, who changed in profile, who emerged, and who recovered.

The SBSM Clinical Science Webinar Series will continue to be held quarterly and will focus on the practical application of cutting-edge research to clinical settings. If you are interested in having your work featured at one of these sessions, please contact Christopher Celano (ccelano@mgh.harvard.edu).

We look forward to seeing many of you there!
