The Emerging Leaders (EL) is a diverse and vibrant group of early career members and trainees in psychosomatic medicine. The mission of the EL is twofold:
- To promote the development of early career members and trainees as scholars and leaders in psychosomatic medicine.
- To advance SBSM’ research, clinical, and membership goals.
The EL has the following overarching goals to support its mission:
- To provide leadership, service, and professional development opportunities that will positively impact the research and clinical trajectories of SBSM early career members and trainees, ultimately helping them to become effective leaders and collaborators in their own fields and within SBSM.
- To be active contributors in SBSM by serving on committees and working on and developing new committee-driven and ELI-driven initiatives, ultimately helping to advance SBSM’ research, clinical, and membership goals.
Previously, the EL has reviewed educational materials and resources to be posted on the website; video recorded and edited conference presentations; and assisted with conference programming. In the future, EL is looking to continue to engage early career members and trainees, including travel scholarship winners; help increase SBSM’s presence on social media to promote members and highlight relevant news; and continue to create conference programming beneficial to early career members and trainees.
