The SBSM is happy to announce our new Clinical Science Webinar Series! In this webinar series, we will discuss cutting-edge research and its application to clinical care. In our first session, we will discuss the use of text message-based interventions for individuals with hypertension.
Title: Developing an m-Health Tool to Improve Hypertension Care
Date/Time: Thursday, September 19, 2024, 12:30-1:00pm EST
Register by clicking here.
Description: Blood pressure control rates are poor due to a mix of patient and practitioner behaviors (or non-behaviors!). Viable solutions need to be inexpensive and not overly burdensome. This presentation will describe the conceptualization, iterative design and testing of a patient-facing SMS system that holds promise for engaging both patients and providers to improve hypertension management.
Dr. Matthew Muldoon
Presenter: Dr. Muldoon is a Professor of Medicine, Epidemiology and Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh and founding Director of the UPMC HVI Hypertension Center. His research has spanned topics on the interface of cardiovascular disease development, behavioral medicine, and risk factor modification.
